About Us

Spoon Benders Tea Service is driven by a passion for creating memorable moments through unique high-tea experiences. We are dedicated to curating and producing events that leave a lasting impression, offering thematic  occasions tailored to the preferences of our customers. Spoon Benders' teas are customized to fit any fancy, à la mode or incorporating the tea-a-tricks of local performers, in hosts' own homes, chosen venues, or in cooperation with various historic sites around the Bay Area.

 

Carla, our founder and director, comes from a professional background in creative storytelling and marketing and has nurtured a lifelong passion for and involvement in material culture, with a deep interest in all things antique and decorative. She is involved in local architectural history and preservation efforts, and along with her carpenter husband, John, is actively engaged in the restoration of their 1890 Queen Ann Victorian home.

 

In addition to being avid collectors of vintage treasures, Carla and John grow their own produce, which is featured in the delicacies offered on Spoon Benders' menu. Carla's sister business, Fête Setters, an events rental operation, specializes in antique decor, furnishings, and apparel for events, film and photo sets, and estate staging.
